stay home friday

back at home by 7pm today... on a friday night...

not in the mood to go out tonight...have been feeling tired this week... actually took cab to work everyday!!! lucky liat towers is not considered as cbd area (so save $3 :p) anyway, work up super late today... 8.25am!!! made a dash to the bathroom and ran out of the house by 8.45am!!!

arranged for a 5pm meeting with a store manager at my outlet at arena country club... it is damn far lor!!! one of those secuded jurong area... cab ride there is abt $18... then on the way back, i dropped my staff at her place (bt. batok) before i head home... just the cab fare? a whopping $28.35!!! so my total spending on cabs today is more than $50!!! guess that just wipe out my weekend spending, so make the choice to stay home instead... hehe...

on the other hand, think because i am working in orchard, so i rather rush out of orchard when i get off work... last week E asked if i have been shopping at wisma's DP since i am working so nearby, then i told her i never went there eversince i started! so the nearer you are, the less often you will visit that place! hehe!

out of bounds no more!

the once out of bounds transit areas of Singapore Changi Airport are now accessible to me!!

as i need to visit my stores at the airport, including the 3 outlets at the departure transit areas, i could apply for a seasonal pass to the restricted areas. hehe... got the pass today and it last for 1 year. i can now officially walk into the departure transit area without buying an air ticket! was joking with my colleague that if i am feeling down or simply need some space, i should just go for a store check and spend the rest of the day sitting at the transit area watching the planes go by or reading a book!

sigh... i wish i can travel again!!! not much luck with this current job... so can only depends on my personal trip (hopefully it can take place in september as planned!)

a weekend of indulgence

had a free night accomodation at one of the hotels in corpthorne group. ok... i am one of those suckers that bought the F&B membership that entitles me to vouchers and discounts to the F&B outlets of the hotel group as well as a complimentary stay. had to utilise it by feb (alr an extension from the expiry date), and with all the festive period from december to cny, finally settled for this saturday!

the goal for the day... totally indulge and just relax and enjoy myself! no computer / no internet! haha!

started the day with a bit of shoe shopping, followed by getting the snacks and drinks for the day... oh... since i was at tanjong pagar area, couldn't give up the chance to try another donut joint that opened a couple of months ago - donut & donuts... had some apprehension when they opened (like... another one?), but must give ppl a chance before i whack them right? haha... but i must say, its not the best donuts that i tasted, but it wasn't that bad at all, it has a few tasty ones too... oh yes... i judge by the most basic donut - the glazed... it wasn't overly sweet, the texture of the dough was a little hard for some, but mostly managed to be soft in the inside and retained the crispiness on the outside, evenly grazed so you can taste the flavour with every bite. haha... recommendations: the white chocolate, the original glazed, the cream cheese and the ginger (the last two are my friend's reco)

after check-in, we went for a swim... haven't exercise for the longest time... haha! but i am proud to say, i swam 60 laps! ok... its not an olympics size pool, but it is still an achievement to me! it definitely worked up some appetite for dinner at the buffet. steamboat buffet! yummy! fresh seafood, thin sliced meat, delicious soup (tom yum and 8 treasures soup) plus my all-time favourite herbal drunken prawns! hehe! we ate so much that we were so bloated!

went back to the room and just "nua" there! haha! thank god there was a match to look forward to, otherwise i would have "pass out" on the comfy bed! watching football in an aircon room, on the bed with the comforter, munching potato chips and drinking coke without the worry of dirtying the bed... pure indulgence! haha!

finally managed to make use of my bubble bath foam! yes... since i have no bath tub at home, must make use of the facility at the hotel lor! so i managed to have not 1 but 2 bubble bath. hehe! so that's my saturday! how i wish the work week is not beginning again....

正月十五..元宵节

its the 15th day of CNY... the last day of celebrations alr...

my new company doesn't have a D&D, but they have annual CNY luncheon on the 15th day of CNY at Sheraton Towers (coz owned by my boss!). the whole of the support centre and the store managers are invited, so there were only abt 100plus ppl. its quite a quiet event. expected to be rowdy, but it is very quiet... maybe it is the culture or the way the bosses prefer it to be...

anyway, the entertainment for the event was a dance competition. each area has to send a team and so does the support centre. as most of you have guess, the newbies at the support centre has to form a team and that means i had to be part of it. maybe it was all the training from kfc that i have gotten used to all these "performing", and be thick-skinned about it. the team consist of mainly the executives / assistants, i was the only HOD... all the rest of the new HOD found excuses but i think as a marketing person, i must be more "onz" right? anyway, my team managed to get 2nd prize! haha... so 6 of us gets to share $150 voucher! haha... btw, i also won a hamper for the lucky draw... hehe... better luck than all the D&Ds that i attended!

such a coincidence, i saw the PH team (who were there for lunch with their bank partner) when i was leaving the hotel... actually ju spotted me first! had a quick chat before i head back to the office...


remember my posting yest? my worries on my campaign? my ad is finally out today... and surprisingly i got an sms from tiara that she thinks my ad is nice and refreshing! haha... at least there is someone who likes my ad!

oops... its my first campaign

counting down to tomorrow... i am a bit worried, my official first campaign starts tomorrow...

i am not proud of the works, it was done at a rush, the product was already planned... but i was just disappointed with the creative execution... which again was due to an uncreative agency plus interference from many... sigh! oh well, just pray that business will come in so that everything will be fine... it was quite funny that i had a nightmare yest night that the ex marketing manager called me to tell me the promo will flop because of the terrible artwork!!! almost fainted when i woke up!!! so wish me luck :)

more gatherings

still within the 15 days of CNY, so there are still house visitation this weekend (actually more like today only!)

its a kfc gathering today... first up was to my ex-boss place. a double occasion - for CNY and her son's 3rd birthday celebration. it was a popiah party like last year, but it was another good chance to catch up with the marketing gals of different era! haha!

didn't stay long as i had to rush to another kfc gathering... this time, its the scm/qa gathering at SC's place... haha... can't help that i bond well with other depts as well! hehe... great to catch up with everyone... and won $6 playing blackjack! haha... cannot cover cab fare, but still better then not winning :)

the day you avoid orchard road...

as i was walking along orchard road this evening on the way home, i remembered why i hate walking there on this day every year...

its so depressing for a single old hag to see lots of couples, behaving lovey dovey, walking hand-in-hand, flowers included (big bouquets, small bouquets)! i had to sms 2 of friends to bitch! haha! call me a jealous bitch! can't be helped... its the 30 yr old single syndrome. while everyone rushed off for their dates, i was stuck at the office, with a running nose, bad throat and no date! for the first time since i joined, i had to lock up the office! sigh...

well, Happy Valentine's Day to all who still believe in this day (i still do, just not as enthusiastic about it this year)!

4 days of feasting and sneezing...

this cny has been super busy and jammed packed with house visiting! haven't been that rushed for the past few years!!! haha... must be because of the long weekend... ate a lot (practically non-stop feasting and snacking), but also been feeling lousy with the flu bug since cny eve! what a start to the new year! used more tissue paper, ate more strepsils, yet not enough rest. sigh... then getting back to work tmr alr... i wish we had 15 days of holidays!!! oh well, a quick run-down for the past 4 days...

cny eve - home

reunion dinner at home with my family. had to wait for my eldest sister & bro-in-law to come, so dinner only started around 9pm... the must have every year... lotus root soup, chicken & duck, steam fish, prawns, black moss with dried oysters. yummy!!! how not to put on weight right?

day 1 - relatives house visiting

went to my god-granny's place, then followed by house hopping from my god-uncle and 2 god-aunties place. just placed myself at all the couches, coz i was feeling grumpy and drowsy from all the sneezing!

day 2 - G's place

it had been a tradition since our poly days to go to G's mommy house on the 2nd day of cny. nothing changed except the new addition of baby danielle

day 3 - various houses!

it started late at about 4pm at my ex-boss house in the east. had a great time catching up with everyone. followed by dinner at AQ's (WY's colleague) house at holland for a super yummy dinner with hainanese chicken rice, prawn noodles, laksa etc... all prepared by her mom! then finally rushed to G's house at bt batok for late night MJ session! haha!

day 4 - current colleague's place

went to CCK, near yew tee, for a luncheon at my current hr mgr's place. after our makan session, joined them for blackjack and in-between (nope, never win money) and ended the gathering with a loh hei!

that's it! so not looking forward to start work tmr...

running out of time...

i haven't had such feeling for a long time... time seems to be running out for everything...

maybe i am still struggling to familiarise myself with the brand, the company culture, the people, the work. maybe i am just not good enough. maybe i am not focus enough... maybe i am afraid to fail... maybe... maybe... maybe...

hate this feeling, especially when its so close to a supposingly happy festive season... i just wish i could be in the mode back at my ex ex work place... where i l know what i am doing!
