a rewarding dinner

its the eve of Labour Day, so my sister and i decided that we shall pamper ourselves with a good dinner after all our hard labour at work... (the true story... everywhere else was packed, with long queues...)

we went to Tung Lok Specialties at VIVO City... went for a set dinner costing $55 +++ per pax... food was yummy, service was pretty good... so here's the menu and delicious pictures...

this braised shark's fin with crab roe... it is so rich... not those starchy type... but thick with the goodness of the crab roe, crab meat and shark's fin...

deep fried lobster... tasted good... but difficult to eat with the shell...

japanese styled cod fish = teriyaki cod fish!

the healthiest veggie dish... the gravy taste like soup!

steamed rice with yam and diced meat... expected more, but still yummy...

ended the meal with the sweet sago with mango and pamelo...

4 months hiatus...

finally... after 4 months of hiatus... i've finally gone for my manicure and pedicure today!

yes... the last time i went for my manicure and pedicure was on my birthday... so that is exactly 4 months and 1 day ago! even my nail technician gave me a nickname as 3 times (as in 3 times in 1 year)... well, but it felt so good as i have very dry skin, so i tend to have lots of dead skin on my tired feet. of course, i am those lazy gal who doesn't scrub or file my feet at home on my own... and this is the only beauty treatment i give myself! afterall, my nails are the only presentable part of my body! haha...

ok... so now my nails are in a shade of purple... till my next session... :)

what to do at one of the bigger malls in KL

was given from 2pm to 9pm to shop at mid valley shopping mall in kl when i was at the assistant managers' retreat yesterday... for a good 7 hours, the place i spent the most number of hours is at.... dunkin' donuts!

we decided to just sit and chat instead since we didn't feel like shopping much... the place looks newly renovated (at least it looks newer as compared to the last time i visited the place bt 2 years ago?)

the few of us shared 6 donuts and each one was so yummy and delicious! still one of my fav donut chains... especially the particular one at the basement of a major shopping mall that attracted long queues of ppl who are just queuing because it is the "in" thing... at least i know most of donut lovers doesn't rate them well. haha!

conquering one's fear

i never guessed i will be able to do it... i went up the high wall!!

alright... that was the mildest of the activities, but i BYA - didn't do that activity at ubin, but went up the high wall twice this time! was at Allson Klana Resort in Seremban, Malaysia for a asst managers' retreat. panicking with fear for the past 2 weeks after hearing from my boss about the scary high ropes and tough activities (like climbing up 5-storey high of vertical ladder before doing the flying fox). however, the lord must have pity me that it started pouring heavily once we started the team building event. so each team only performed 1 task and my team did the memory task and high wall... phew for the rain! but most likely will have to finally conquer my fear again when we go for the RGM retreat in august at the same place... no chance to hide anymore...

baby no. 3

yes yes... seaweed has endured her fear for needles and pain and gave birth naturally to baby chan yesterday! yes... still waiting for the name... so currently baby is known as baby chan :)

went to visit her today and had so much fun catching up with a few ex-colleagues... missed those days that the few of us gossiping over lunch...

dearie... congratulations on your new born! you are much stronger than you think! remember that ok? will go visit you again soon... if you need to talk to anyone, all of us are available ya?

ok... will be away for 3 days for a company retreat... pray for me overseas....

having after dinner Mango Frap at PS Starbucks with who else but Ms Starbucks...

Since she had a laptop, she "whipped"out her laptop and "forced" me to blog about our outing at Starbucks! haha...

ok... thanks to her, i am getting my drink FOC... a barter-trade from today's staff discount for her KFC lunch.

more than i bargain for

went to a event with some of the gals tonight... Moove Media's 2nd anniversary event... the theme was glamourous hollywood... well, we tried to dress a little glam lah... ok... we really tried (its after 8 hours of work afterall)... the main draw was of course the lucky draw prize for a trip to hollywood... LP was praying really hard... sorry gal, didn't rub off any luck to you! the best part of the evening's programme has to be Sebastian Tan aka Broadway Beng's performance. as per all his performance, it was definitely the most entertaining!

came home and was looking at the goodie bag... they had a book named "belief"... actually written by Moove Media's CEO... quickly scanned thru it and found some very meaningful quotes that i would like to share...

this was never something that comes across my mind... always feels that the grass is always greener... or the moon is always brighter abroad... it is usual of me to think negatively... hence never embracing the good things... maybe i should start thinking positively... treat every problem as an opportunity to learn...

"do not seek praise. seek criticism"

isn't it normal to seek praise? shouldn't we? even if we feel that we deserve it? putting more thoughts to this quote... will praise cause us to be complacent? no one is perfect, so are praises superficial? will criticism push us to work harder? or just make us sink into depression... hmmm...

that's just a little food for thought...

shocked beyond words...

a couple of hours later, i am still in shock...

earlier today at the HOM meeting, i was presented with the CEO award! this is a recognition from my CEO and it took me by surprised... i can still remember that very moment when my name was called... i had face turned to the back, talking to moo moo cow...

on the serious note... i am not sure if i deserved this award... ok... i am not so humble... part of me thinks YES... i truly deserves it! i know i put my heart and soul to this project. the brand has become a big part of me after working on it for coming 5 years... but the other part of me feels that there are many others who might have done more... anyway... to quote the mermaid: "you get touched by these gestures very easily... give you this award, you will stay longer alr"... hmmm... something to ponder about?

on a funny note... while making my thank you speech (as if i was winning an Oscars), i actually almost thank the whole world except.... my CEO! haha... R joked that i will be in his bad books after missing him out! haha...

really appreciate everyone who congratulated me, who felt happy for me, who thinks i deserved it... and oh yes... my CEO's secretary was so sweet... she actually bought me a rose... awww....

another baby news

yes... the tally is increasing... just added one more piggy baby on the long list... it is still currently on a hush hush basis due to the superstition of not announcing within the first trimester... Congrats to the mysterious friend (to be announced soon...)

anyway, just received the invite to baby Gabbie's first month party on 29th April. time passed so fast, it was just a week or so ago that i visited baby and mum budninny at the hospital. can't wait to see the both of them again...

laugh the sunday away...

with the dreadful monday approaching, the best thing to do on a sunday afternoon is to laugh your day away... at least it seems like the best way to forget that you got to get back to work the following day... face the same table, the same pile of work awaiting you, the same people you don't want to meet (oops... did i type it out loud! haha!)

oh well... here's what tickled me this afternoon....

went to watch another play... a comedy... Blithe Spirit... the cast was a main draw... all established local theatre actors / actresses... it was quite a fun show... especially love the ending... if only i could throw things around the office like that! haha...

luck is not on my side...

saved a document in my thumb drive so that I can work from home... but guess what? the file is corrupted!!!! *#%!$(*&^*@*

now i got to go in to office earlier tomorrow to finish it up before my meeting at 9.30am! that is provided if i could get up in time....

guess i can now surf the net and try to sleep early tonight instead...

baby no. 2

went to visit the 2nd piggy baby i knew - baby gabbie (gabriel) .

mummy budninny is my ex-colleague who i have known for about 7 years! she has always been the young one in our group, the ballerina, stick-thin, no lunch except teh si and sweets! we could never imagine her as a wife and a mum! that's life right? always expect the unexpected! the young ballerina is now mom to baby gabbie!

it was quite funny how i managed to carry baby gabbie for quite some time without crying! guess all those practises with my bosses' kids are turning out quite well. at least budninny wanted to hire me as her confinement lady! i strongly believe it is the comfort they feel with the fleshy arms... there are always benefits to being big! haha...

the countdown to the other piggy babies continues...

reasons to be happy...

today is a happy day... in many ways... there are so many reasons to bring that smile on my face. hey... i am easy to please!


first - we had a managers' briefing this morning and my CEO gave thanks to the marketing team for our efforts for year till date... while he gave credit to all individual team members starting from my snr manager, i was shocked and surprised that he singled me out for my hard work for my campaign! aww... finally i felt recognised... at least it make me feel that the efforts were worth it! hey... a monetary reward would be good! haha...


second - two of my colleagues were promoted today (actually from 1st april, but the award ceremony was today). its a happy occasion as i truly believe they deserved their promotion.


third - i had so much nice food today FREE! haha... we had nice little pastries from a particular deli (named associated with France, but definitely not french!) hehe... thanks to the promotees! then met up with mermaid and had dinner with her and R... had steamboat and we were so bloated! but also had so much fun catching up with each other.


fourth - i have a new toy! hehe... got a gift from my Ops Director from his Beijing trip... it was one of the Olympics 2008 mascot... i have just added that to my collection that i bought in Shanghai... now i have a set of mini plush, a set of key chains, almost the complete set (1 design was sold out) of handphone straps and now i have a bigger plush Beibei! yes... i can hear mermaid laughing at me! here's big Beibei and her friends!
