twin happiness

congrats daph on the arrival of your twin princesses vernette & vernise today. went to visit them after work, and was glad that mother and daughters were all healthy. but as the babies are premature at 33 weeks, weighing 1.75kg and 1.79kg, they were in icu for observation. so couldn't take any pictures of the babies, but could see the thick hair from afar! can't wait to see them during their first month.

btw, today also marks the day i made someone cried! i was just a little stern with my marketing asst when suddenly i saw tears flowing down... i swear, i wasn't even loud and definitely not scolding her! i even asked my "neighbour" if i was stern, and she didn't even hear anything. compared to my days in kfc, this is not even 10% of what i am capable to! haha! relax... must not get high blood pressure.

sweet tooth

today i succumbed to the temptation of many desserts and bought many sweet treats. i guess it is ok to have more sweet treats on a sunday to take away the thought of starting work again in a few hours' time...

gave up my usual dessert of 杨枝干露 at tung lok and tried something new today. anything with lychee will definitely entice me! haha! since it is a promotional item, must give it a try right? can always eat my 杨枝干露 again at the next visit. besides, it looks really pretty and tastes yummy! the sorbet has light lychee flavour and complements the sweetness of the chilled lychee with 'gui hua' jelly.

i found these new flavours of cadbury chocolate at giant... haven't seen these flavours around. was torn between the 3 flavours and decided to choose only 2 of them. the first that i picked - creme brulee... my favourite ' ang moh' dessert now in chocolate, how can i give it a miss right? then between tiramisu and fudge brownie, i decided on the tiramisu which is a newer flavour.

also bought 2 dessert mixes at daiso, but will have to find time to make them before i can share with everyone how it tastes! there's the sesame pudding and cupcake to look forward to now... hehe!

bitten by fishes!

haha... nothing scary actually... went to the fish spa at qianhu with ET & CW today. shortly after reading RL's fish spa trip on facebook, i received ET's sms asking if i was keen to go for fish spa.

we went to qianhu... the gals did a quick research and think that is the cheapest at $10 for the first 30mins... when we went there, we thought we will go for 30mins... in the end, we spent a total of 1hr 30mins in the ponds!!! haha!

it was a first for all of us. so when we went to the ponds, we decided to start with the pond with small fishes first. we didn't know what to expect. the feeling from the small fishes was a bit ticklish, a bit electrifying! after a while, we got our courage to step into the pond of big fishes! the length of the big fishes were even a longer than our feet! terrifying at first... but once you got used to the nibbling, it was just ticklish and quite relaxing afterall! like ET said, don't look into the pond, then you won't be scared!

the fishes are supposed to eat up your dead skin etc, so CW mentioned that if your skin has no problem, you end up wasting your $$ just soaking your feet as the fishes will not come to you. haven't been going for my pedicure sessions for months, so you can imagine the fishes enjoyed nibbling my feet for the thick skin of mine!! haha... definitely made my money worth! haha... will definitely go again!

mixed feelings

i can't be sure what my mood should be today...

my appraisal was scheduled at 2.30pm (yes... its a delayed appraisal coz my boss not kancheong, saying that i sure can be confirmed!). so started the day pretty chirpy. however, the mood was sort of twisted when my marketing exec told me she had something to tell me! she got an job offer, going back to the country club, so she will be tendering today. on 1 hand, i am secretly happy or relieved as it was really a mis-match for her and the job. on the other hand, i seem to be a failure in nuturing ppl. just 6 months in my job, i have 2 team members quitting on me. although both of them are not hired by me! am i really the boss from hell? haha

when i inform my AGM abt the news during my appraisal, i rated leadership as an area for me to improve on! but he mentioned it is not really my fault as the previous HR Manager just hired my exec and the previous asst to fill the positions without a proper job fit. oh well, i just hope i can really build a strong team with my new exec... hope the person i am recommending will take up the offer! *hint hint* since you read my blog!

plucked!

i finally succumbed to lil'c attempts to make me go pluck my eyebrows today... sigh... anyway, just hope that the re-grown brows will not be thicker or more messy!!! haha! coz obviously i am not going to start grooming it, so will juz let it grow i guess!

anyway, i saw yoga (宥嘉) at raffles city! hehe... looks the same as on tv. he is quite short! haha! lil'c says he don't look like a star, more like regular guy. but i still think he got a good voice! lil'c asked if i want to take photo with him, but so super paiseh lor... anyway, not like i super big fan lah... then i sms wy and rl, both of them also asked if i took picture with him! haha!

b/g: my staff received a call regarding a complaint and the customer insisted on speaking to someone of higher authority. hence the call was passed to me

cust: may i know what is your position in the company?
me: mdm, i am the marketing manager
cust: good, just the right person to talk to. i am dr. xxxx (i should protect her identity!! haha). i want to make a complaint. last tues, i went to burger king on the impulse and bought your daily special meal. you do know what meal i am talking about?
me: mdm, we do not have a daily special, but you could be talking abt our promotion meal. maybe you can tell me what was in the meal?
cust: it came with 2pcs of chicken, mash potato, some salad and a drink
me: mash potato?!?! mdm, and you mean 2 pcs of fried chicken?
cust: yes yes
me: mdm, i think you got the wrong company. burger king doesn't serve mash potato. i think you went to kfc
cust: oh... you mean i went to kentucky fried chicken?
me: yes mdm
cust: oh... i am so sorry... (hangs up immediately)

so even after i left kfc, i am still answering their complaint! haha!　

dark knight gala premiere

went for the gala premiere for the dark knight today. was hoping that i will not be lost since i didn't catch batman returns. it's a must watch since there were so much hype about the movie especially since it was the last movie by heath ledger.

heard it was approximately 2hrs 30mins long, plus the movie screening is at 9pm. we went for a good dinner (no rush at all this time), before we proceeded to lido. as the opening of the movie is on thurs, they were pretty tight with the security that all handphones and recording devices have to be deposited! oh... coincidentally, i met the ex-a&p exec from zoo, who is now working at the security firm!

anyway, the movie was pretty good... very engaging throughout the show, lots of action and explosion plus great acting for the cast ensemble. i think i actually enjoyed it more than the old batman movies that were more commercialised and kids friendly. seriously don't encourage parents to bring the kids along. btw, i caught the 1 scene by edision chen! lol! so much hype from the hong kong media previously abt his role in the movie... but it is really forgetful and lil'c actually missed it! oh yah... i think christian bale looks really good... as bruce wayne! haha...

flavour of the month

most friends who knew me for long will know that i am never such a big ice-cream fan coz i don't really take dairy products. so i usually choose to eat my ice-cream with waffles, waffle cone, brownies or with toppings!!! my usual flavour selection? cookies and cream, chocolate chips, rocky road etc... what's the common factor? there are bits of ingredients (cookies bits, chocolate chips bit etc) so it takes away the milky taste and feel.

i have taken ice-cream 3 times for the past week! and i had the same flavour for all these 3 incidents. want to make a guess? its lychee martini! haha!

well... taka had a food fest at the basement, so i went there during lunch hour with my colleagues. then i found the booth by u.d.d.e.r.s ice cream which specialises in liqueur flavours. of course i wouldn't give up to try right? it was good, not too strong in alcohol flavour, not too sweet, definitely alright for a afternoon dessert! plus it was not as creamy more like a sorbet! yummy! i actually went back for another round on friday!

my 3rd lychee martini was from the daily scoop at clementi arcade. never knew there was such a bustling shop tugged away at clementi. there is less vodka taste, guess that makes it more suitable for kids too! but it has more chunks of the fruit! bit into 1 and it was super icy! lol. they have nice waffle cone too, so a good mixture of texture!

2nd harry's trip

Last fri afternn, lil'c n i had lychee martinis at harry's aguillia park. Exactly 1 week later, we are at harry's esplanade for drinks after a show. Here's the self proclaimed alcoholic who looks genuinely happy taking pix w her drinks! tgif!

tired tired tired

in my current company, the people at the head office have to be involved in the mid-year and year-end stock take at the restaurants. so last night was the first time i had to conduct a stock take and how lucky can i be to be allocated to the store in terminal 2 at singapore changi airport! its not so much the distance, but the timing! as the stores at the airports are operating 24hours, the cut-off time for stock take is 1am! it didn't make it easier to stay awake since i was up watching spain wins the EURO 2008 the night before!

it was really quiet at the airport, so different from the buzzing crowd from my past trips! but it makes me really wanting to get out of the country for a holiday soon!!! anyway, i was home at abt 2.30am, tried to get myself to sleep as fast as i could... and woke up late at 8.15am!!! rushed to work and was totally konked out... dazed and moodless at work for the whole day! haha!

time to get to bed early today!!!
