lost in translation...

maybe i have been reading badly translated manuals, emails and product descriptions... nowadays i tend to really laugh at these translations...

today i found these 2 greeting cards from daiso... i am sure they used the translation software from microsoft word for their translations!

gloomy day

can't believe that i am blogging at work... but staring out of the window and all i see is a patch of grey... isn't the most condusive time to get motivated to work!

seems really gloomy... then the whole mood gets grey and feels like being eeyore for the day... everything is just sad... hope the mood will change after lunch... not likely...

bye bye tissue paper

finally able to breathe properly, no more coughing and don't have to hold on to a piece of tissue paper every where i go!

and just in time for mermaid's krispy kreme! thanks for bringing me one all the way from hong kong! muack muack!

sickie footie...

nope... nothing wrong with my feet... just that this "travelling footie" has been sick for a week! all the "travelling" the feet did were to and fro tanjong pagar and telok blangah...


so i was pretty glad to meet up with the current kfc gals plus 1 ph gal for dinner on fri night... had dinner at sushi tei followed by drinks at coffee club...


the cough is not getting any better... sigh...

bad start for the week

how could you have a good week when you start the week down with flu?


have been sniffing non-stop since late sunday night... then the cough started in monday afternoon... what a bad start for the week...


R said that must be i "played" too much last week, that's why fell sick! haha... so i have been a good girl this week... have been going off at 6.30pm for the past 2 days... drinking lots of water... yes plain water instead of my coke... ate soupy stuff for lunch... and rejecting ah dee's offer of krispy kreme delivered at my door-step! sigh... i think the flu bug took over my brain cells...

packed week...

haven't had such a packed schedule in a week for a loooonnnnnnggggggggg time!

haha... seems like i can get a life after leaving kfc!

tues night: went to gwen stefani's concert... talked too much abt her in my earlier post alr... all of you knew what happened!!!

wed afternoon: met up the kfc team at my new outlet. hehe... checking out their new competition! haha...
wed night: met up with my poly friends at VIVO for dinner and celebrated shelton's mummy's birthday! thanks for the ice-cream treat gal!

thurs afternoon: an unplanned lunch with the kfc QA gals at (where else) my new outlet. SC was like doing competitive check taking pictures of the food!!! haha... must justify her claim hor? hehe...
thurs night: movie with the lame ah dee and J.Neo. originally thought it was just one of those fun, poking fun at getai local movie. but it was a good show and quite touching afterall too. went for dessert and drinks after the movie and ended up chatting till almost 12 midnight!

fri afternoon: lunch with the bbdo gals... mission to feed them succeeded! hehe... no lah... glad that they like the food!
fri night: barbeque session at Jen's place... had fun catching up with everyone and even interrogating SL at the end of the session (though she didn't look that happy about it)

my weekend seems rather dull in comparison... was home the whole day on sat and only went for grocery shopping today... its ok... i need to recuperate... before tonight's Liverpool vs Chelsea match!

close encounter with an Orange County gal...

a concert i will never forget... i have been waiting for this concert for so long... since the news of gwen stefani was having a concert in singapore, to the day the tickets were on sale (and i bought it on the very first day), to last week patiently waiting for today to arrive (or yest since it is past 12 midnight!)

the concert started with some cute "drama"... 2 of her dancers acted as runaway prisoners chased by police up the crowd at the 2 sides... i was still thinking why the privilege was not at the centre section where i was sitting!!! with that, the concert kicked off with "the sweet escape"

her voice was really good... she wasn't panting with all the dancing and running around.. the dancers were great... just like what we will see on those award shows... but the best part... she went off the main stage and came near to the centre section... really close to my seat... i was super excited that she is now so close...

then the unexpected happened... she ran up to the audience using the aisle i was just next to!!! OMG... i think i was in such a shock that i didn't realised that she will be running next to me... E was the one who keep tapping me and screamed "she is running up" x many many times... i managed to be like 30cm away from THE GWEN STEFANI and reached my hand to brush against her arm! E managed to touch her back too! hehe... so in my little excitement, i did manage to snap a few pictures with my handphone... woo hoo...

no longer free for weekends...

yes... i have been waiting for so long... haha... please don't have funny thoughts.... after 2 months plus of cold turkey... the new season of EPL starts today!!! woo hoo!!!

looking forward to see liverpool's performance this season... though i will miss fowler at anfield, but there are quite a few new exciting players... definitely looking out for torres... it is not easy to take over the number 9 shirt from fowler and with the amount liverpool paid for him... i wish he will get used to EPL as quickly as possible!!

will have to wait till after 1am to the start of the liverpool vs aston villa... you'll never walk alone...

nothing is perfect...

today should have been a happy day... i have my official grand opening of my 1st outlet... big deal to my bosses as my brand owner / founder was here to grace the event, the korean ambassador was one of the invited guest among a lot of the korean community...

i was "arrowed" to be the emcee for the event together with my regional ceo's son (he was to take care of the korean part of course!). and the amazing thing was, my bosses just told me that there will be about 10 VIPs for the ribbon cutting ceremony but he keeps saying that he has the list but non of us knew who was coming until yesterday night. so how was i to come up with a script not knowing who to introduce, who is giving a speech etc...

anyway, it didn't matter coz i realised they like to make changes every second!!! first the host (as in my bosses) were late because they had a meeting with EDB and it over-run. then when they reach, they told me the ambassador will be late so i need to cancel his speech and re-arrange the sequence of introduction for ribbon cutting. then seconds before i start (imagine me holding the mic, standing in front of the row of ribbons), my chairman came to me to add 1 more person to the ribbon cutting - his wife. imagine us frantically adding 1 more of the ribbon ball to the row of ribbons and me changing my script once again.

the above was just the start of imperfection... then the moment i opened my mouth, the worst thing that can happen happened! the stupid sound system basically ruined my show... the feedback was HORRIBLE, mics were not working almost all the time... basically my nightmare. everytime the sound system screwed up, i noticed my boss frowning! my boss came to me at the end of the event and shake my hand to say these exact words: "good job today but we are not paying for the sound system!"... in my mind i was thinking, shit... he is so going to talk about that when he gets back to the office...

oh well, let's see what other boos boos were there... there was a short black-out (some paranoid colleagues insisted it was the sound system caused it due to the over-capacity), there was this vip (one of my boss' friend) who started acting like he was the owner and started inviting people that we didn't know to cut the ribbons! then i had to wear my heels, so after 2 days of wearing heels and cover toes shoes... my feet was hurting like mad!!!

so that is the first event at my new company and it definitely wasn't perfect...

my longest meeting...

just can't believed how i managed to survive a monday.... especially one that involves a meeting from 10am to 6pm!!!!


yes... we have management meeting in the morning every monday... today was exceptionally long as there were many "big" events happening this week... like tomorrow's event at Shangri-La (the brand owner from korea is in town to give a lecture organised by the Korean Chamber of Commerce) and the grand opening of my store on wed...

oh well, i have also officially been "arrowed" to write minutes for the weekly meeting... what to do? i am the smallest "fly" in the meeting... haha... shucks... i left my ex-company to do what the animal does!!!

i also experienced my korean's boss' temper today. he flared up due to some "screw-up" on the IT POS system (does that happen to every single restaurant?!?!). also the first time i felt lost in a meeting coz half way through the meeting, my boss started having a conversation with the other 2 koreans in the meeting in korean!!! all the locals just sat there, looking at each other... guess i have to be prepared.... oh well...

extended farewell

surprise surprise... 1 week after i left KFC, i have another farewell party yesterday!

J. Neo from my agency msn me last week to ask if i was free yesterday night, but refused to let me know where we are going. since we are working in opposite buildings, she was supposed to bring me there. although i was skeptical and keep asking her where we were going, she just refused to let me know. then earlier this week, Princess Bxxxx sent me and email and "accidentally" said see you on friday! although she tried to recall the email, the original email was still available! haha... the suspicion got stronger and she tried so hard to convince me that it was meant for others not me.... anyway, there was also Mermaid and Lynnie who tried to keep it from me or make up stories like Lynnie's hot date!!!

as i had a last minute meeting at my restaurant at 5pm, J. Neo had no choice but to let me know that it was at WK's place (our usual destination for barbeque with the agency)!! haha! my guess earlier was either this or J. Neo's place. so i was quite right! hehe...

well, it was really nice of the agency to even plan a farewell barbeque for me... even tried so hard to keep it from me. though it was not so "surprising" afterall, but still fun! hehe... and it was quite funny when shark told me that MG mentioned that i have a very long farewell session (from RSC retreat to my very last day). i can imagine him shaking his head if he knew it even extended till yesterday, more than a week after i left the company!!! haha...

thanks to everyone for a great time and especially for J.Neo, popo, WK and grace for the gift too!

first week...

it has been one week at my new work place...

work wasn't exactly super hectic... just that there is no system in place yet... and all instructions or work to be done were given in bits and pieces... hence everything ended up being urgent... haven't been doing some of the nitty gritty stuff for a long time... guess now i have to do everything... big or small...

and today, i just found out something interesting... the so-called regional marketing guy from korea (just joined like 2 weeks before me) has left the company quietly! we just didn't see him at work since monday... until my HR manager checked with my boss then we realised he quitted! so now... there is really no marketing person around... hmmm... the first gossip i heard in the new office... why did he quit? haha... i so missed all the gossip sessions at work!!!!

saw shark on msn at night a couple of days back... so i was chatting with her and realised she was working late to cover my duties before the new gal comes in... i joked that she has to "chong chu jiang hu" as she has to even go to the store to run a dipstick! sorry about it... ex-boss!!!
